Waiting For Santa Anyway

I mentioned that I've been unsuccessfully trying to conceive a child. To avoid obssessing over it, I made myself busy with a whole lot of other things like exploring my new region and starting a business.

You know how children pretend to be asleep when their parents check on them late at night, only to turn on a flashlight and continue to play when the coast is clear? Or how some women pretend to be on a strict diet, only to secretly grab a chocolate bar when no one is looking?

Well ... that's what I've been upto. I was pretending to be busy and distracted while secretly hoping to conceive. This month, my period was three days late. Like a kid set loose in a candy store, I hopped and skipped over to the nearest pharmacy and grabbed a pregnancy test kit, while designing my future kid's layette.

I decided to wait until the next day to use the test, thinking that first thing in the morning would be the most accurate moment. By lunch hour, I had my period. So the pregnancy test kit remains unopened and prepared by my bedside, and I'll have to hide it somewhere while pretending to be busy with other, more important tasks.
